Cristina Mejías’ work emerges from intimate narratives, those transmitted orally and those that are impregnated with the narrator’s voice and the listeners that hears them; containing all possible formulations, facts are mixed with myths and legends, and fictions appear as options that scape the hegemonic narrative. Her artistic practice allows her to become a part of transmission and body that learns, resulting in multidisciplinary projects.

Visual artist, Mejías licensed in Fine Arts in UEM, NCAD of Dublin, and holds a master’s degree in Art Research and Creation from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. After several years in Berlin, she is currently living and working in Madrid.

Recently, her work has been exhibited individually in places such as Centro Párraga (Murcia, 2020), Blueproject Foundation (Barcelona, 2020), Museo de Cádiz/ Casa Pinillos (Cádiz, 2020), or Museo de Arte Contemporáneo del Zula (Maracaibo, Vz, 2017), and collectively at institutions such as CA2M, Centro de Artes Dos de Mayo (Madrid, 2020), La Casa Encendida (Madrid, 2020), SCAN Projects (London, 2020), CentroCentro (Madrid, 2020 y 2016), C3A (Córdoba, 2019), C Arte C (Madrid, 2019), Premi Ciutat de Palma (Baleares, 2019), Sala Mendoza Foundation (Caracas, Vz, 2017), Ranchito ARCOLisboa Matadero Madrid/ Galerías Municipais (Madrid, Lisbon, Pt, 2018), Artothèque (Bordeaux, Fr, 2018), TEA (Tenerife, 2018), Centro Cultural de España/AECID (Rosario, Arg/ Concepción, Chl/ Lima, Perú, 2018), XXVII Circuito de Artes Plásticas by Sala de Arte Joven (Madrid, 2017), LABoral (Gijón, 2017), and CAAC (Sevilla, 2016), among several others.
